Rift Sawn Studio offers full-service interior design, focused schematic design, and complete furnishings services for ground-up homes, substantial renovations, character-rich properties, and select hospitality and retail spaces.
Our preferred projects are whole homes and spaces where early involvement allows the architecture, materials, and furnishings to support one cohesive vision. We also reserve a limited amount of studio capacity for smaller projects with strong creative potential.
Every engagement is individually scoped around the needs of the project, with design services billed hourly.

Procurement, installation, and final styling
Every full-service engagement is individually scoped around the needs of the project
SCHEMATIC DESIGN
02
Schematic Design is a focused engagement that establishes the creative and functional foundation of a project. It is best suited to clients who need a strong design direction before committing to complete design development, or who have an architect, contractor, or internal team prepared to carry the concept forward.
A typical scope may include:
Project programming and goal-setting
Review of existing plans or conditions
Preliminary space planning
Overall concept and visual direction
A foundational finish and material palette
Preliminary fixture and feature selections
Key elevations or three-dimensional studies, as appropriate
A design presentation and defined revision round
A final schematic package outlining the recommended direction
Schematic Design establishes the vision. Detailed specifications, construction drawings, procurement, and ongoing construction coordination are not included unless added through a subsequent scope.
Schematic Design is individually scoped and billed hourly based on the needs of the project.
Our furnishings service is designed for complete rooms and whole homes that need furniture, lighting, rugs, window treatments, art, and objects to bring the architecture fully to life.
The process may include:
Furniture planning and layouts
Creative direction and palette development
Furniture, rug, and decorative-lighting selections
Window treatments, art, and accessories
Custom furniture and upholstery
Vintage and one-of-a-kind sourcing
Preliminary furnishings budgets
Specifications and purchasing documentation
Procurement and order coordination
Delivery, installation, and final styling
Rather than filling a room piece by piece, we consider how every selection contributes to the atmosphere, function, and vibe as a whole.
Studio-managed procurement is strongly recommended. Furnishing an entire home involves far more than selecting individual pieces: specifications must be verified, orders tracked, deliveries coordinated, damages resolved, and installation sequenced around the project schedule.
Clients may choose to purchase items directly in some cases. This should be established at the beginning of the project so that Rift Sawn can source from vendors available to the public rather than relying on trade-only resources, and so that purchasing responsibilities are clearly defined.

SMALLER PROJECTS

Have something more focused in mind?
While whole homes and comprehensive spaces make up the majority of our work, we leave some room in the studio schedule for smaller projects that are clearly defined and offer creative opportunity.
This might include a kitchen or primary suite, a particularly special room, or a focused furnishings project. If you are unsure where your project fits, we invite you to inquire.
